The first special traffic operation of summer 2024 takes place in the Valencian Community from 15:00 hours on this Friday, July 4, until 24:00 hours on Sunday, July 6. Therefore, these days special measures of regulation and traffic management will be established that will affect the territorial scope of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón.
The DGT expects that from today to August 31 there will be 13,710,145 long-distance trips on the roads of the Valencian Community, 2.25% more than those registered last summer. For the first special operation, there is a forecast of 634,766 trips in the Valencian Community.
Pilar Bernabé has called for the prudence of all drivers. The delegate has indicated that “it is necessary to respect the speed established on each track, maintain safety distances, turn off the mobile and wear the safety belt or child restraint system in the case of minors”. He has also considered it “fundamental” to rest every two hours in the case of long trips and “zero tolerance with the consumption of alcohol and drugs at the wheel”
In addition, as he added, the operation has “the full availability of the means”, both human (agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, official personnel of the Traffic Management Centers, helicopter patrols and personnel in charge of the maintenance of equipment and the installation of measures on the road), as well as technicians (fixed radars and mobile speed control, in addition to helicopters, drones, cameras and camouflaged vans to control the use of mobile and the safety belt) available to the DGT.
