· The roads of the Mediterranean absorb 50% of the movements that occur in Spain by the OPE. For this reason, information points have been opened
· Given the extreme weather situation, and in times of greater influx, air-conditioned areas and special spaces for children are enabled
· Translators are also available, especially in Arabic and French
The Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the General Director of Civil Protection, Virginia Barcones, has visited in the Port of Valencia the facilities destined for Operation Paso del Angolo (OPE) of 2025.
“The OPE,” said Bernabé, “is carried out fluently, in coordination and without incident in the Valencian Community.” According to the forecasts provided by the delegate, “the traffic of movements that is experienced in the province of Valencia in Operation Paso del Angol represents 1.5% of all the displacements that occur in our country. In the port of Alicante it is just over 3%”. For this reason, “we work in a coordinated way with the port authorities, State Security Forces and Bodies and also with the private companies and consignees of each of the ports to receive all the people who are going to make use of the facilities of Operation Strait Pass”.
At the national level, more than 800,000 trips on Spanish roads are planned for Operation Paso del Angolo. In fact, Barnabas pointed out, “the roads of the Mediterranean absorb more than 50% of these displacements”. Therefore, on the roads of the Comunitat Valenciana “information points have been enabled, such as those that have been opened this week in the area of Ribera de Cabanes, in Castellón and in Vila Joiosa, in the province of Alicante, to attend to all travelers who need information on all issues related to the OPE”.
The delegate also stressed that “in the ports there are translators, especially of Arabic and French, to be able to offer an adequate service to all these people”. In addition, he added that “in the face of the extreme weather situation” and at times when higher peaks are expected, “the consignee will assist travelers in an air-conditioned space, with cafeteria, with children’s playroom, where they can spend the hours before boarding”. Bernabé has said that in the Port of Valencia the three rotations are maintained “with a passenger offer of around a little more than a thousand passengers per ship”. The figures, he added, “are similar to those of last year, where we already experienced a large increase in passengers and in 2025 we are in the same terms”.
The special device of the Operation Passage of the Strait began on June 15 and will be maintained until September 15. In this operation, thousands of citizens of Maghreb origin cross Spain to go and return from their countries of origin during the summer period.
