The Ministry of Territorial Policy reinforces with 30 personnel the offices of foreigners of Alicante and Valencia

The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, in coordination with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, reinforces with 30 personnel on a cyclical basis and for at least 18 months the offices of foreigners of Alicante and Valencia (10 people for Alicante and 20, for Valencia) before the entry into force of the new Regulation. In these two offices of the Valencian Community, a greater increase in applications is expected during the first months of the new regulations.

In this way, “a comprehensive response is activated to deal with the workload that the Immigration Offices will assume from May 20 as a result of the entry into force of the new Regulation on Foreigners”, said the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé. The delegate stressed “the commitment of the Government and the Ministry of Territorial Policy to respond to the challenges brought by the new regulation.”

This response is the result of the work that has been carried out by the Ministry of Territorial Policy since the end of 2024 with the different actors involved.

At the national level, the plan is concretized with a cyclical response that includes the imminent incorporation - for an initial period of up to 18 months, extendable - of 250 personnel in the 25 Immigration Offices in which a greater increase in applications is expected in the first months of validity of the innovations introduced by the Regulation.

In addition, for a structural reinforcement of the service, it is planned that of the more than 1,100 new officials of the C1 and C2 groups that in the coming months are going to be incorporated in the Delegations and Subdelegations of the Government, around 500 are also destined to the Offices of Foreigners of all the Spanish provinces, thus facilitating their structural adaptation to the challenges that the new Regulation on Foreigners brings with it for the coming years.

As highlighted on May 14, the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain, in total “will be 750 troops that will be part of an unprecedented endowment in the Government Delegations, and especially for its Offices of Foreigners, which are an essential service for the processing of applications for residence and work of foreign people in our country.” Spain also pointed out that “in addition to personal means, this unprecedented endowment includes organizational and technological reinforcements”.
