The Security Forces and Corps will deploy a special device to guarantee security in the Valencian Community during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The reinforcement operation will be composed of about 1,600 National Police and Civil Guard personnel. The thousand members of the National Police will strengthen citizen security in the areas with the greatest influx in order to ensure that the celebrations to bid farewell to the year run smoothly. For their part, the 600 agents of the Civil Guard will focus on traffic controls to avoid the consumption of drugs and alcohol at the wheel. The device will be developed from 9 p.m. this evening and will last until 8 a.m. tomorrow, with agents stationed in different units taking part.
In the case of the city of València, the members of the National Police who will work in coordination with the Local Police “will ensure the security of all the neighborhoods, while at the same time they will prevent the negligible attitudes with deployments in sensitive points and areas of greater influx” such as the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the Barrio del Carmen, Juan Llorens, Cánovas, the avenue of Aragón or the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, among others. In addition, establishments and premises will be controlled in different points of the city and also the areas close to the shooting of the three fireworks castles.
The delegate said that the Security Forces “are ready” to face a New Year’s Eve that will be different since it is marked by the dana”, while being convinced that “the citizens will demonstrate their responsibility as every year”.
Traffic controls will also be carried out to prevent the consumption of alcohol and drugs. In this regard, the delegate stressed “the incompatibility of driving with the consumption of alcohol and other narcotic substances”. Barnabas recalled that “the consumption of alcohol and drugs can increase up to 200 times the probability of suffering a fatal traffic accident.”
