The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the works of the railway access to the port of Sagunt and its connection with the Mediterranean Corridor, together with the commissioner of this infrastructure, Josep Vicent Boira and the mayor of the town, Darío Moreno. Bernabé highlighted that “the Mediterranean Corridor and its connections with the strategic infrastructures are a State project for the Government of Spain”. In this sense, he has indicated that the works that have been visited today, represent "a clear and decisive commitment of the Government with the strategic infrastructures of the Valencian Community and for the Mediterranean Corridor that advances like a rocket". Thus, he recalled, the Government of Spain “has invested more than 6.7 billion euros in the Mediterranean Corridor in recent years and that it also has almost 90% of the works carried out or under execution compared to 40% of the works under execution six years ago”.
These actions “fundamental for the region of Camp de Morvedre, for the economy of the Valencian Community and for Spain” have an investment of more than 50 million euros and “will be completed by the end of the year”, said the delegate. “This connection,” he added, “has been included in the regulation the Trans-European Transport Network as a priority infrastructure thanks to the impetus of the Government of Spain”
The actions that are being developed include the creation of a platform and mixed-width railway of the new railway branch; the electrification of the line, with the assembly and installation of posts and catenaries; the modification and expansion of security and telecommunications facilities; and the integration of the railway, which contemplates the replacement of the roads and services affected, among others.
