The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited together with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, the actions promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge on the beach of Les Deveses. This project has involved an investment of more than 15 million euros to which is added the 5 of maintenance, “the second most important investment carried out by the Government of Spain in coastal regeneration in 2023”, recalled Bernabé
According to the delegate, the regeneration of Les Deveses responds to the need for recovery and environmental improvement of the area “with the aim of stopping the regression of the beach and recovering a stable sand width of at least 30 meters, over the next 25 years”. In short, as he stressed, “the physiognomy of the Dianense coast of the 60s is recovered, in a clear commitment to the regeneration of our beaches”.
The actions have included the execution of two new fences and the regrowth of the existing one in the area closest to the provincial limit of Alicante, as well as the contribution of 650,000 cubic meters of sand coming from the marine deposit of Cullera that allows to reach a minimum beach width of 30 meters. Therefore, it is also a “work of dunar regeneration to guarantee the amount of sand that can be a reservoir for the future”.
