The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has held a meeting with the mayors of the municipalities affected by the forest fire that began in Montitxelvo last Thursday, November 2.
In this meeting, the delegate met with the mayors of six municipalities of the region of La Safor -Ador, Villalonga, Llocnou de Sant Jeroni, Castellonet de la Conquesta, Potries and La Font d´en Carròs- and Montitxelvo de la Vall d’Albaida, together with the mayor of Terrateig to analyze the state aid to which municipalities and individuals can be admitted. To this end, techniques of the Civil Protection Department of the Government Delegation in the Valencian Community have informed them of the aid, its mechanisms and deadlines that must be followed.
After this meeting, Barnabas explained that the Government Delegation “will be at the disposal of the consistories in the application for State aid”. For the Government, as the delegate said “it is a priority to give a quick response for the recovery of these areas”. Bernabé has framed this meeting within “the necessary coordination between administrations to maintain the work of prevention, which are essential to return to normality and keep the territories protected.”
As explained by the delegate, at the moment the aid that can be received by those affected is regulated by Royal Decree 307/2005 of 18 March of the Ministry of the Interior for subsidies in response to certain needs arising from emergency or catastrophic situations. This aid can be requested during the month following the date after the definitive extinguishment of the fire and the Ministry of the Interior will resolve within six months.
In parallel, the delegate has encouraged the councils to carry out an evaluation of the damages caused by the fire so that, if necessary, a file can be presented with which to request “as soon as possible” the aid for areas seriously affected by a Civil Protection emergency, commonly known as “aid for catastrophic areas”.
