• Barnabas: “It is the most direct investment of a government of Spain to clearly and decisively change the physiognomy of a city”
The city of Xàtiva leads the investment of the Government of Spain in the region. The Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Fund, belonging to the EU, has awarded €7M to the city to “improve its tourism efficiency and socio-economic development”, as confirmed this morning by the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, on her visit to the town on the occasion of the celebration of the Fira d’Agost de Xàtiva 2023.
Alternatively, ADIF continues to carry out the works of modernization of the security facilities of the Xàtive-Alcoi line, whose investment was €150M in 2022 and €12M in 2023, to which must be added an additional €7M. Bernabé has claimed the importance of this infrastructure because it will allow to “dignify” the line that connects the regions of the Comtat, La Vall d’Albaida and La Costera and “respond to the needs of connection of the 21st century”. “It is the most direct investment of a government in Spain to clearly and decisively change the physiognomy of a city,” he said.
To this investment, we must also add the 5.000 M€ destined to the advances of the Mediterranean Corridor, which affects Xàtiva in its stretch with the Knot of the Encina. This adaptation will allow to link in standard width the three autonomous capitals, as well as the southeast peninsular with the northeast and the rest of Europe. “Never in history has such a clear commitment been made to achieve such strategic communication in our country,” said the delegate.
During his visit to the city, Barnabas took the opportunity to meet the Queen of the Fira, Reyes Camarasa, as well as her Court of Honor and companions. Throughout the day, he has participated in various activities. At 10:15h he gave the start to the XXXIV Cycling Trophy Feria de Agosto, while from 13h he made the award ceremony of the XLI Children and Youth Drawing and Painting Competition in the open air and subsequently inaugurated the exhibition of the winning paintings. In addition, he has visited the different commercial stands and enjoyed a mascletà, just before signing in the book of honor of the city.
The Fira d’Agost de Xàtiva has been celebrated by the privilege of Jaume I since 1250. It is the oldest festivity in the entire Comunitat and is declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
