The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided together with Mayor Gandía, José Manuel Prieto, the local security board of Gandia to prepare the summer campaign and the campaign of safe tourism.
Barnabas has indicated that 254 troops of the State Security Forces and Corps will be part of this device that aims to guarantee security in the areas of beaches and maximum concentration of people. Barnabas, who called this device “historic”, said that the 13% increase in the number of National Police officers in the city has favored these “record figures” to be reached. The delegate recalled that “the Government’s commitment to security has managed to reverse the trend of lack of personnel that was dragging on from previous executives.”
However, Barnabas pointed out that Gandia “is a safe, friendly and quiet city”, as demonstrated by the fact that all crime indicators have been lowered, except for cybercrime crimes, so far in 2023 in relation to the same period last year. These data are related to the “great professionalism of the National Police and the coordination and collaboration with the Local Police,” he said.
The delegate stressed that complaints of gender violence have been raised, an issue that highlights the need to “fight against this social scourge that must be named to combat it.” He has also encouraged the population “to denounce any case of male violence of which there is knowledge or suspicion because all citizens should be a violet point”.
Finally, Barnabas referred to the special device for the Pirata Beach Festival that is held today in Gandia. It will be made up of more than 136 members of the National Police, Local and Seconded Police, Firefighters and Civil Traffic Guard who will control the consumption of alcohol and drugs at the wheel. At the same time, the delegate thanked the City Council for installing violet dots to fight against sexual assaults. Bernabé also recalled that situations of male violence can be reported through the telephone 016 or the Alertcops application, anyone who sees or suffers from a situation of danger can warn the FCSE.
