· The government delegate holds a meeting with the mayor of Elche to monitor investments in the city
· Bernabé highlights the Executive’s commitment to “the connectivity and competitiveness of Elche” and to “the improvement of the lives of citizens”
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited this morning the city of Elche where she held a meeting to monitor the investments that the Central Executive develops in this city. After this meeting attended by the mayor, Carlos González, the delegate stressed that the government presiding over Pedro Sánchez “has placed Elche on the European map of the railway network”. “In addition, the Ilician vicinity will be connected to the European map of railway connectivity that is the Mediterranean Corridor, and that places Elche on that European map that someone said had to be deleted when the AVE Madrid –Murcia was inaugurated,” he said.
Bernabé pointed out that this Government “has opted to improve the connectivity and competitiveness of this city” through the modernization of the C-1 proximity line, the development of the Torrellano variant or the connection of the AVE station with the urban center, among others.
Regarding the variant of Torrellano, which will divert the current line of C-1 Neighbourhoods between Alicante and Elche to connect both cities with the airport Miguel Hernández, the delegate recalled that in the General Budgets of the State of 2023 the wording of the project was incorporated. “One month after the approval of the Accounts, the project was given the green light and awarded 2.4 million euros, which demonstrates the government’s commitment to the city of Elche,” said Bernabé.
At the same time, the Government “is working on the tender of the preliminary work for the drafting of the project for the connection of the Elche AVE station with the urban center”. “This is another of the fundamental bets for the city and it will see the light in the coming months,” said the delegate. In addition, he added that the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda “is aware of the request for a railway stop in the business center of the city, so it is carrying out a preliminary study of how to carry it out”.
The delegate has also referred to improvements in road infrastructure such as the already completed refurbishment of the A7 firm, which has had an investment of more than 6 million euros. Likewise, he has highlighted the agreement of almost € 10M for the remodeling of more than 300 homes in Ilician neighborhoods. Therefore, Barnabas has indicated that “the Government is not only committed to infrastructure but also to improving the quality of life of citizens”
