After the signing of deeds the plot located in the port area for disposal to Red Eléctrica, to be destined for the project of electrical interconnection between the peninsula and Ceuta, the Government Delegate, Rafael García, accompanied by the President and the Director of the Port Authority, visited these lands today to know first-hand the details of this project.
In this space of 6,405 square meters is planned the implementation of various facilities, which will begin with the construction of this new substation, which will serve to integrate the ceutí electricity system to the peninsular, thus strengthening the supply of the Autonomous City and favoring the incorporation of renewable energies.
The implementation of the submarine electricity cable that will connect our city with the rest of the national territory, is a strategic and transformative project that is included in the Socioeconomic Development Plan of the City of Ceuta, whose estimated date of implementation is 2025 and which foresees an investment of 221 million euros.
The interconnection includes key actions such as the creation of the new substation at 132 kV Virgen de África in addition to the implementation of a new underground line of double circuit in alternating current at 132 kV that will connect the peninsula with the electrical substation located in Ceuta soil.
With the development of this investment, Ceuta will be integrated into the peninsular electricity system, strengthening the guarantee of supply, increasing the quality indices to values similar to those of the rest of the Spanish territory and which on the other hand will contribute to a change in the more decarbonized energy model, with greater integration of renewable energies in the field of ecological transition, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
