On Friday, the Government Delegation hosted the first meeting of all the agents involved in Operation Strait Pass (OPE) for the constitution of the Territorial Coordination Committee of OPE 2023. In order to provide greater security and fluidity to the massive flow of vehicles and travelers who choose the Algeciras-Ceuta route to reach Morocco and, in addition, avoid inconveniences to the neighbors of Ceuta.
Operation Strait Pass, is the largest operational device at European level, allowing more than 3 million people and more than 760,000 vehicles to pass by sea from Europe to Africa.
In Ceuta, Operation Strait Pass 2022, which took place between June 15 and September 15, ended with a total of 683,586 passengers and 161,272 vehicles and 3,056 with ship rotations.
Abselam Abdel Lah Abdeselam, coordinator of OPE 2023, stressed that “this is the first of many meetings that will take place in the coming weeks to ensure, one more year, that we have a smooth and uneventful operation”.
