The first weekend of Operation Passage of the Strait has resulted in 19,956 documentary verifications by the National Police, on the border of the Tarajal. As for the vehicles, they have passed through border crossing 6,452, noting a significant increase in the number of non-resident vehicles.
The objective of the operation that has been launched since last Thursday, June 15, is to guarantee the normal and fluid development of the operation, which will take place until September 15, and in which thousands of citizens of Maghreb origin choose Ceuta to reach Morocco.
The days marked as critical in the Departure Phase are June 24, 25, 26 and 27, coinciding with the dates prior to the Feast of Sacrifice, in addition to July 29, 30 and 31 and August 1. For their part, in the Return Phase, 29, 30, 31 August and 1 September are expected to be the most complex days.
In 2022, the year in which Operation Passage of the Strait was resumed after two years suspended by the Covid-19 pandemic, the device ended with a total of 683,586 passengers, 161,272 vehicles and 3,056 rotations of ships.
