The Secretary General of Penitentiary Institutions, Ángel Luis Ortiz, has appointed Nonia María Velázquez as the new head of the Penitentiary Center of Ceuta. The current deputy director of Treatment of the prison will take over tomorrow from Pablo García after his appointment as general director of the Presidency in the Autonomous City.
With a degree in Psychology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca and a master’s degree in Management of Penitentiary Institutions, Velázquez joined the Superior Corps of Technicians in 2008. In October of that same year, she joined the Ceuta Penitentiary Center as a psychologist, where in 2014 she assumed the Subdirectorate of Treatment, an area she has coordinated to this day.
During the last three years, Pablo García, a jurist of the Superior Corps of Technicians, has been the head of the penitentiary center. With a degree in Law from the University of León and a master’s degree in Strategic Management from the Penitentiary Administration, his career in prisons began in 2005. At the old Los Rosales center he served as deputy director of Regime and Security.
