.The Council of Ministers has approved the Royal Decree regulating the direct granting of a subsidy to the cities of Ceuta and Melilla for the development of programmes in the field of internal trade. The Government will allocate about 2 million euros to encourage commercial activity in these autonomous cities, specifically 950,000 euros to each of them.
The objective of this aid is to dynamize the commercial sector of these territories to recover the levels of activity prior to the pandemic. It is also intended to consolidate the productive commercial fabric of Ceuta and Melilla to create quality employment in cities and contribute positively to neighborhood welfare, local development and urban dynamism.
The State Secretariat for Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, in charge of this aid, has agreed on the actions to be financed with the competent departments of the two autonomous cities.
In Ceuta, discount voucher programs will be implemented in commercial establishments for consumers and tourists.
For its part, in Melilla, subsidies will be approved for SMEs or self-employed workers to promote digital and sustainable transformation at the point of sale. The proceedings must be implemented before December 31, 2025.
