They have also dealt with migration issues, for which they have agreed to set up a working group.
According to this agreement, which has been sealed at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, and together with the Spanish Ambassador to Andorra, Carlos Pérez-Desoy, this group will be formed by a representation of the Andorran Government and on the part of the Spanish Government there will be members of the State Secretariat for Migration of the Ministry of Social Inclusion and Migration, and members of the State Secretariat for Security of the Ministry of the Interior and members of the Government Delegation. One of the points will be the situation of the Andorra La Seu Airport, which is owned by the Government of the Generalitat. In this case, the government delegate has committed that any flight that comes from outside the Schengen area and is authorized by the competent authorities has both the filter of the fiscal unit of the Civil Guard, which involves fiscal protection and airport security, and on the part of the National Police issues relating to foreigners and visas.
For his part, the head of the Andorran Government explained to Prieto that the negotiations of the Association Agreement with the European Union ended in December last year, that throughout 2024 his Executive has carried out communication actions to explain the agreement to the Andorran citizens and that after the signing of the Association Agreement a binding consultation is foreseen.
Finally, to continue the work of this meeting, Espot has invited Prieto to make a visit to Andorra, which will take place soon.
