- Prieto presents the book ‘For a piece of land’ by the advocate, Yago Rodríguez, together with the youtuber Sergi Gifre
Barcelona, April 24, 2024.- The government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, has defended the need to "spread the culture of defense" by publicizing the work of the armed forces as the Ministry of Defense does because "the army is not a machine without sense or conscience, since there is the human factor" and has recalled that currently there are "about 3,000 troops assigned to international missions".
Prieto said this in the presentation of the book ‘Por un pedazo de tierra’ by the populariser of defense affairs, Yago Rodríguez, and during the talk he had with the also Youtuber Sergi Gifre at the event that was held this Wednesday in the Archives of the Crown of Aragón. The delegate has highlighted the interest that exists for geopolitics since between the two disseminators there are about 800,000 followers on social networks.
In addition, Prieto has justified the culture of defense in Catalonia, “a community that thinks that the army does not exist” and has regretted that it is attributed a culture of war when what it promotes is “the culture of peace”. The delegate stressed that “there are many who risk their lives in conflict zones for humanitarian reasons, which must be put in value especially in Catalonia”.
For his part, the popularizer Yago Rodríguez has asked for “a more ambitious country” because “to improve you have to generate a culture more favorable to yourself, a more productive culture so that more wealth is generated.” Rodríguez also called for “society to have a normal relationship with the military” because “Spain could have a more prominent role internationally”.
Finally, Youtuber Sergi Gifre has agreed on the “need to spread what the armed forces and their values are, at a time when society needs values such as sanity” and has criticized that the national defense policy depends on the governing party.
