Ulldecona, September 5, 2023.- The government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, visited together with the government subdelegate in Tarragona, Salvador Castellà, the areas of the region of Montsià, in Tarragona, most affected by the passage of DANA. In an attention to media from the city of Ulldecona, together with the mayor, Prieto has explained that the Delegation of the Government in Catalonia is in constant contact with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Territorial Policy, and with the other administrations so that “the aid arrives as soon as possible”. The delegate has assured that Royal Decree 307/2005 has already been activated, which regulates subsidies in response to certain needs arising from emergency or catastrophic situations, and establishes the procedure for granting them, although the amounts are still to be determined since the damages and damages caused by the heavy rains are being evaluated.
The government delegate has also said that it will be studied whether this area of Tarragona can be declared “seriously affected” while waiting for the completion of the assessment tasks in other parts of Spain seriously affected by the passage of the DANA and recalled that previously the government has granted aid worth 37 million euros for the Gloria storm and about 2.5 million for the floods in Alcanar in 2021.

Later, the government delegate moved to the municipality of Alcanar where he visited the Alfacs campsite, together with the mayor of Alcanar, Joan Roig. The mayor has explained to him the affectations that the rainstorm has caused in his municipality and the delegate has conveyed to him that the Government of Spain will be next to the neighbors. Prieto also plans to travel to Santa Barbara this afternoon to convey his support and help to the mayor, Antonio Ollés.
