The subdelegate of the Government presides over the delivery of recognitions on the occasion of the Private Security Day

• The Civil Guard and the National Police appreciate the collaboration of agents and private security companies, in their daily work. • They are granted taking into account the special dangerousness, hardship, initiative or social transcendence of the actions of these professionals.

May 22, 2024. The subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid, Jacinto Canales, has today presided over the annual award of recognitions with which the Civil Guard and the National Police appreciate the collaboration of agents and private security companies, in their daily work.

Jacinto Canales recalled in the course of the act that, although “security is the responsibility of the Government, the protection of people is a work that involves all public administrations and commits us all” and, in this regard, he thanked the work of private security companies, “preferably, as a preventive activity in a particular field”, always as a complement to the main work of the State Security Forces and Corps.

On this occasion, the assistance of 62 workers from private security companies, 26 in support of the Civil Guard and 36 of the National Police is recognized.

Specifically, among the mentions granted, there is one for providing information that facilitated the arrest of five people who were preparing to introduce drugs and telephones in the penitentiary center of Valladolid and another for helping a person who had choked in a shopping center.

Beyond obligation

These honorable mentions distinguish private security personnel or individuals, natural or legal, related to the sector who excel in the fulfillment of their obligations.

They are granted taking into account the special dangerousness, hardship, initiative or social transcendence of the actions of these professionals.

There are two categories:

• For being injured or taking a serious risk to their physical integrity when providing a service. For preventing the commission of crimes in relation to the object of their protection, with detention of those involved, when it entails difficulty or entails special risk for their person. For providing the Security Forces and Bodies with information relevant to the security of the State, to citizen security or to clarify crimes or acts committed by criminal organizations.
• To prevent the commission of crimes in relation to the object of their protection. Humanitarian actions in the event of accidents, accidents or catastrophes, which exceed the strict fulfilment of their duties. Any other action that, in the opinion of the Security Forces and Corps, deserves this honorable mention.

These references allow the use of a specific badge on the uniform that in no case could be confused with those of the Security Forces and Bodies or the Armed Forces.
