The Government Delegation in Castilla y León becomes a violet point of attention, support and accompaniment for victims of gender violence
“You are not alone. Describe it”
May 14, 2024. The Government Delegation in Castilla y León is from this Tuesday a safe space for the victims of male violence. The government delegate, Nicanor Sen, has been in charge of placing the sticker that turns the institution into a violet point of attention, support and accompaniment to victims.
In this way, the commitment reached within the framework of the meeting that the Minister of Equality held with the Coordination Units against Violence against Women in the offices of the Government Delegation in Valladolid to improve coordination and collaboration in the fight against gender violence and vicarious violence is materialized.
“From today, the Delegation of the Government of Castilla y León that shares headquarters with the Subdelegation of Valladolid is positioned in the front line in the care of victims of this social scourge that requires the firm commitment of the whole society and maximum coordination between institutions and agencies,” said the delegate.
The objective is to reach the victims’ environments and to make the resources, services and telephones available by the State for the care of victims of any form of gender-based violence known to the entire population.
To this end, on Tuesday, a training program has been launched by the Unit on Violence against Women aimed at the workers of the Delegation who pay attention to the public to give them the necessary tools to turn them into agents of information, action, prevention or referral in a case of male violence that goes to the units.
Sen has highlighted the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to put an end to one of the most flagrant manifestations against the dignity of the person and that is the materialization of the inequality between men and women that still persists in society.
“Initiatives such as the one we have presented today show that for the Government of Spain the fight against gender violence has become a transversal task of all its management that seeks the involvement of each and every one of the ministries,” said Sen, who stressed the need to continue working to break the circle of invisibility and silence that often surrounds violence against women.
ACTION GUIDE
The badge has a QR code that allows access to a guide of action against male violence that offers the keys to know what to do in a case of male violence, whether you are a victim or have witnessed a possible aggression.
On the sticker is also visible on 016, the telephone service of information, advice and immediate psychosocial attention attended by personnel specialized in all forms of violence against women. A service that is completed with the Whatsapp 600 000 016 with permanent attention 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition, the numbers of attention of the National Police, Civil Guard, 091 and 092, and 112 of Emergencies are incorporated, three agencies whose work, according to Sen, is key in the fight against gender violence and the first attention to its victims.
In the coming weeks, it is planned that all the Subdelegations of the Government of Castilla y León will become violet points, so that, progressively, a network will be expanded, of which the 63 offices of the Public Service of State Employment of Castilla y León are also part.
