April 9, 2024. The General Director, Leonardo Marcos visited this Wednesday the quartering of the Civil Guard in León where he presented five new mobile offices for citizen care.
Leonardo Marcos has insisted on the importance of this type of office “what it is mainly about is offering a service of higher quality, and of closer proximity to the citizens on the Camino de Santiago, but we must also highlight its configuration as Advanced Command Posts sometimes as great human concentrations, great natural catastrophes in which we need to displace the force from our quarterings to the place of the facts”.
These vehicles began operating with the beginning of the holy year Xacobeo 2021. These are complete citizen care offices, with benefits similar to those of any Civil Guard quartering. To do this, they include the same systems that carry the police vehicles of the Civil Guard, along with the other technology necessary for an efficient and effective public security service.
Along with these new five acquisitions, the Civil Guard adds 21 mobile offices along the Camino de Santiago for more than 4,000 kilometers. These new vehicles aim to achieve maximum proximity to the people who make the Camino de Santiago, whose safety depends in most of its extension –up to 92%- to the Civil Guard.
In addition, during his visit to León, Leonardo Marcos met with the top officials of the Civil Guard in the region, who have explained to him the tasks they carry out, what has been their evolution in recent years, as well as the perspectives and plans for the future. In this vein, the CEO greeted staff from all jobs, whom he congratulated on their daily work.
The Civil Guard is organized in Castilla y León in nine Commandences that have almost 5,300 agents covering 97.79% of the territory of the Community. León is the province that has the highest number of civil guards, almost a thousand.
