Nicanor Sen discusses with Minister Ana Redondo the actions on equality in Castilla y León
Institutional visit
April 3, 2024. The government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, held a working meeting this Wednesday with the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, to address the lines of work framed in one of the main priorities of the Government of Spain: combating gender violence.
During the meeting in the ministerial offices, the minister has put on the table the renewal of the State Pact Against Gender Violence as one of her main priorities in this legislature to advance in rights and freedoms and in the challenge of ending inequality between men and women.
This commitment has been ratified by Nicanor Sen, who agrees with the minister on the need to strengthen the means and resources for the fight against gender violence and any type of violence against women and to maintain the path initiated by the Government of Spain with the promotion of the cross-cutting approach of gender in all public policies.
In this sense, Redondo wanted to remember that in the last five years Spain has implemented pioneering measures in favor of real and effective equality between men and women and aimed at reducing any social and labor gap, “strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.
The minister alluded to the call for aid that was published on Wednesday in the BOE with a sum of seven million euros for programs and projects of awareness, prevention, sensitization, research and innovation to eradicate the different forms of violence against women.
Likewise, the minister informed the delegate that Valladolid will host on April 12 a meeting of the Violence Units on Women of all the Delegations of Spain.
At this working meeting, both leaders stressed the importance of this year’s network of nine 24-hour comprehensive care centres for victims of gender-based violence, which has injected the central executive with more than 12.5 million euros and will represent a before and after in the care of women.
Finally, the Government delegate has transferred the full disposition and involvement of the Violence against Women Units of the nine sub-delegations of the Government in Castilla y León, as well as of the different areas of the Delegation and of the State Security Forces and Bodies in the achievement of an egalitarian society and free of male violence.
