Nicanor Sen expresses its support for the claims of professional agricultural and livestock organizations
Primary sector claims
February 5, 2024.- The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, expresses his commitment to the demands of the agricultural and livestock sector of the Community, as he will inform the Professional Agricultural Organizations (OPAs) of Castilla y León with which he has scheduled a meeting next Thursday, and commits to continue working in the search for “fair, profitable and sustainable” solutions for a “strategic” sector in Castilla y León.
Sen endorses the statements of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and offers the sector “dialogue”. The delegate maintains that the Executive shares some of his demands, and points out that, in fact, this Government reformed the law of the food chain to meet one of its historical demands, prohibiting sales at a loss. In addition, “the return of the special tax on hydrocarbons to agricultural diesel is going to be maintained this legislature.”
In this regard, Sen highlights that this government is the one that most supports farmers and ranchers in the face of new challenges. Between 2022 and 2023, measures worth more than 4,000 million euros have been enabled. “Of these, some 1.4 billion are extraordinary direct aid to maintain the profitability of the farms,” he says.
The delegate also expressed his utmost respect for the mobilizations that the organizations of the camp are calling for the next few days “fulfilling, as appropriate, the duty of communication that allows to guarantee the security of both the demonstrators and the citizens.”
