January 27, 2024.- The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, has taken advantage of the two intense days of work dedicated to professionals of the sector at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which from last Thursday and until tomorrow Sunday is held at IFEMA, to reinforce and promote collaboration between the different government bodies and the private sector to enhance the tourist wealth of the Community and face the demographic challenge.
Thus, in addition to checking the many tourism initiatives that each of the provinces of Castilla y León have brought to this fair with exhibition spaces and presentations, many of which he has witnessed, the government delegate has held meetings with the different entities of the public business sector that these days are exhibited in FITUR as with ADIF, AENA, RENFE or Paradores, with whose managers he has been able to review the investments in progress and explore future projects that result in the provision of a better service to the different territories of the community and that contribute to promote a sector, tourism, which represents more than 10% of the Gross Domestic Product of León and GDP.
“The Government of Spain is aware of the importance that tourism has for this community as a key tool in the fight against depopulation; the demographic challenge is one of our main problems and we must articulate policies that contribute to generate wealth, opportunities and establish population,” said Sen, who has transferred it to the Minister of Tourism, Jordi Hereu, who has been guided by the great deployment of proposals from the different territories of the Community.
“This complicity and commitment of the Administration needs to work in a coordinated way with the territories and with the private sector, which I encourage to promote projects that raise the quality of the tourism offer that, undoubtedly, will find the economic support of the Government”, confirmed Sen.
