Unemployment registered a year-on-year decrease in Castilla y León of more than 9,000 people in the month of December

January 3, 2024.- The number of unemployed people registered in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) in Castilla y León, at the end of December, has decreased compared to December 2022 by 9,376 people and stands at 112,623. In relative terms, the drop in unemployment was 7.69%.

As for the monthly variation, unemployment fell by 393 (-0.35%) in Castilla y León compared to November 2023.

The number of members of Social Security in Castilla y León has reached 961,386 this November. This figure represents a decrease of 0.08% (-744 affiliates) compared to the previous month, but an increase of more than 2% (20,907 affiliates) compared to the month of December 2022.

Unemployment in Castilla y León

By province, the year-on-year decline over the past year has been widespread. The largest decrease took place in the province of Palencia, 11.09%, and 6,759 unemployed after the end of December; In Valladolid the number of unemployed is fixed at 23,929 people, 9.08%; in Zamora 8.75% and 9,124 unemployed; in Soria the number of unemployed is fixed at 2,902; León, with 7.51% and 22,318 people; Salamanca, with 6.96% and 18,050; in the province of Ávila, there were 8,957 people, with 6.84%; Segovia, with 5.77% and 5,454 people, with 15,46% overall.

Unemployment in other autonomous communities

Unemployment is low in 14 autonomous communities. It increases in Catalonia (3,474), Valencian Community (885) and hardly varies in La Rioja (160).

In year-on-year terms, unemployment falls especially in the Balearic Islands, Aragon and Galicia.

Contracts

The total number of contracts registered during the month of November was 46,889. Of these, 14,275 are of an indefinite nature, representing 30.44% of all contracts.
