December 26, 2023.– The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Ávila, Fernando Galeano, has today called for “special precaution” in the use of fireplaces and braziers, according to the different incidents that have occurred in recent days and that have caused serious injuries from burns to a person after the fire recorded yesterday in his home in the capital. According to the investigation, the fire was caused by a brazier.
This has been demonstrated in the weekly security meeting that Galeano has held with the National Police and Civil Guard commanders, in which the facts related to the security situation in the province are addressed.
Galeano has “deeply” regretted this event, which he has described as a “very unfortunate event” that must make us reflect on the “risk” that heaters and braziers can pose. “First of all, we advise a lot of caution to avoid more accidents,” says the government deputy delegate.
In addition to this sinister, from the 21st to the present day there have been a total of eight fires, seven in different points of the province with a single minor affected by smoke inhalation. In most cases they have been caused by the lack of vigilance, in the case of braziers, the use of inappropriate fuels or the poor maintenance of fireplaces.
In addition to these events, Fernando Galeano has reviewed with the police leadership the security situation in the province and has pointed out the importance of the significant deployment and reinforcement that is activated during these dates by both the National Police and the Civil Guard.
“Security does not go on vacation and therefore special thanks are due to the agents of the Security Forces and Corps who, on days as special as Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, work precisely so that citizens can enjoy safe holidays,” explains the deputy delegate.
The meeting held today in the Subdelegation was attended by the Chief Inspector of National Police José María García Calvo and the commander Juan Antonio Gallego Sastre, Chief of Operations of the Judicial Police of the Command of the Civil Guard.
At the end of the meeting, the deputy delegate of the Government has conveyed “his best wishes” for the men and women of the Security Forces and Corps who ensure security in the province during the Christmas period. “I want to send you all my recognition and support for the important work they do these days, but also for the service they provide during the rest of the year,” he said.
