December 20, 2023.- The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 7.3 million euros (VAT included) for the humanization of the northern and eastern crossings of the municipality of Soria, which correspond to the N-111 and N-234 roads, respectively.
The intervention, which will affect one section of the N-111 (kilometers 226,330 - 2227,130) and two sections of the N-234 (kilometers 348,750 - 349,201 and 349,312 - 350,230), includes the redesign of the type section of the road, which will adopt a strict lane width to free up space and dedicate it to non-motorized uses.
In addition, the execution of some sections of a two-way bike lane will be carried out, as well as the expansion and consolidation of the sidewalks along the route of the crossings, which will revert to an improvement of pedestrian accessibility.
The complete milling of the driveway, the extension of new layers of sound-absorbing agglomerate and other improvement works related to lighting, gardening or urban furniture are also planned.
Once the works are completed, which are in addition to those that are already in progress of humanization of the west and south crossings, the sections will be ceded to the City of Soria according to the framework for the conclusion of agreements of delivery to the city councils of urban roads of the state network.
This intervention is included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), within the voyage humanization program, which plans to invest 105 million euros (VAT not included) to promote a more sustainable, inclusive and accessible urban environment.
