Nicanor Sen will call for a solution to the serious shortcomings of Castilla y León and calls for institutional dialogue
Defend companionship and loyalty as the highest values to champion at the head of any institution
December 18, 2023.- The government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, has taken office this Monday putting on the table his firm commitment to work “tirelessly” to provide solutions to the serious deficiencies suffered by different territories of the Community.
To this end, he has called for dialogue and institutional collaboration. After all, Sen understands politics as a vocation of service to others and a tool to improve the lives of citizens “where there is only room for collaboration, loyalty to rules and diversity of opinions”.
“The municipal life of our land does not understand ideals because it is based on a policy of needs, union of and strength. A country, a community, a provincial or the smallest people will only move forward with a collaborative society of mutual work. No one was ever united by conflict or confrontation. Everyone without exception must work to ensure that reason, respect and coexistence prevail.”
An event attended by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, the President of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, heads of the Army and the Forces and Bodies of the State Security Forces, as well as the highest political, judicial, institutional, university, trade union, business, agrarian and third sector representatives of Castilla y León.
During his speech, Sen made a nod to his origins, marked by the black coal of the mining land that saw him born and that inculcated him that “every day is a struggle, in which comradeship and loyalty are values with capital letters” and that he has championed during his 20 years as mayor of his native municipality.
A task that he wanted to claim in his new stage as government delegate in Castilla y León, “the land of pure municipalism”, with hundreds of municipalities and thousands of towns that, due to their great extension and their conditions, become daily challenges for public offices, “which obliges us to give the best of ourselves to allow a better quality of life for our citizens”.
THE BIG CHALLENGE OF DEPOPULATION
A new stage that Sen begins aware that depopulation is the greatest challenge that he must face, starting with the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which is called to change the economic, productive and social fabric of Castilla y León as an opportunity to curb population bloodshed and establish the foundations of a society of the future.
A society in which, he stressed, no violence or act of inequality that discriminates against half of the population on the basis of sex fits in. Hence its commitment to work “tirelessly” to eradicate gender-based violence.
The third great challenge, he continued, cybercrime, which forces us to continue working so that the Security Forces adapt to the new forms of crime in an increasingly “sophisticated and universal” space.
At this point, he wanted to give special thanks to the more than 10,000 members of the State Security Forces for their “commendable and professional dedication” that has allowed Castilla y León to have one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
Along with them, the more than 9,000 workers of the Ministry of Defense who serve the Castilians and Leoneses from an institution in which the humanitarian component has been strengthened with the creation in 2005 by the former Leonese President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero of the Military Emergency Unit, “today a world reference”.
Likewise, Sen wanted to remember that currently the Government of Spain has a team of 34,000 women and men present in the nine provinces of Castilla y León who, every day, make available to the citizen the muscle of the General Administration of the State.
Finally, the new government delegate reiterated his willingness to keep the doors of the government delegation wide open, as well as the channels of dialogue and meeting points, collaboration, effort and dedication in favor of Castilla y León, “a land that I love”.
