Expenditure on contributory pensions accounts for 11.5% of GDP in Spain
In Castilla y León, the number of pensions amounts to 622,539
November 28, 2023.- The expenditure on contributory pensions stands at 11.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in the month of November throughout the national territory.
In Castilla y León, the monthly payroll of the Social Security contributory benefits in the month of November was 744.4 million euros for the payment of the ordinary monthly payment. Along with this month’s payroll, the extraordinary pay of November 2023 is also paid, amounting to 725 million euros.
Distribution according to pension class in Castilla y León
Almost 72% of the contributory pension payroll in November corresponds to retirement pensions, that is, 553.69 million euros. A total of EUR 127.3 million has been allocated to widows' pensions, while the payroll for permanent disability benefits is EUR 50.7 million, the payroll for orphans is EUR 9.8 million and the payroll for family benefits is EUR 2.8 million.
Of the 622,539 contributory pensions paid, 403,878 are for retirement, 150,126 for widows, 45,545 for permanent incapacity, 19,081 for orphans and 3,909 for relatives.
For its part, the number of pensioners is 571,083. Of these, 305,300 are men and 265,783 women.
Average pension in Castilla y León
The average pension of the system amounts to 1,195.9 euros per month. This amount includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favour of family members).
The average retirement pension, for its part, is 1,370.95 euros. For its part, the average widow’s pension is 848.33 euros per month.
The average time for settling the files in October (last data available) was 10.3 days in the case of the retirement pension and 15.1 days in the case of widows’ pensions. It must be taken into account that the maximum period of resolution in these procedures, according to RD 286/2003 of March 7 and RD 1192/2021, of August 3, is 90 days in both retirement and widow’s benefits.
Gender gap add-ons in Castilla y León
In November, 37,704 pensions received the gender gap supplement. The average monthly amount of this supplement in the pension is 66 euros. Of the 37,704 supplementary pensions, 23.63% are pensioners with one child (8,909), who previously did not have access to the maternity supplement. 46.33% of the beneficiaries have two children (17,470); 18.58%, with three (7,007), and with four children, 11.45% (4,318).
The gender gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount, after the revaluation applied in 2023, of 30.40 euros per month per child, which applies from the first child, unlike the previous maternity supplement. It is requested at the same time as the pension is requested.
Passive classes in Spain
For its part, the monthly pension payroll of Passive Classes amounted to 1,514.8 million euros in the month of October, the last data available. This figure represents an increase of 166.4 million euros compared to the previous year, 12.3% more.
The number of pensions in force was 705,057, 14,267 more pensions than in the same month of the previous year (2.1% annual variation).
The Passive Class System of the State includes primarily military and civilian personnel of the General Administration of the State, the Administration of Justice, the General Courts and other constitutional or State bodies, as well as officials transferred to the autonomous communities.
