The Government reinforces its commitment to education in Castilla y León with an investment of more than 19.1 million euros

• The Council of Ministers authorises the allocation of EUR 330 million for Vocational Training, Early Childhood Education, Ukrainian Student Education and Programming Training to the CAAC regional governments • Castile-Leon will receive more than EUR 10.8 million for the creation of 5,770 Vocational Training places by the end of 2024. • Of the last tranche of funding of the program for the creation of public and free places from 0 to 3 years, Castilla y León has more than 7.7 million euros for 1,255 places. • Likewise, 464,780 euros are allocated to Castile and Leon for the schooling of children and young people displaced to our country by the war in Ukraine. • Within the School Code 4.0 program, Castilla y León will have 86,860 euros for the hiring of assistants for teachers, the preparation of pedagogical resources and the acquisition of specific equipment.

7 November 2023.– The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, to allocate 19,131,433 euros to Castilla y León for Vocational Training (FP), Early Childhood Education, programming and robotics education, and the schooling of people displaced by the war in Ukraine. The investment in these four programs for all the autonomous communities in total is 329.4 million euros.

Castilla y León will receive 10,818,750 euros for the creation of 5,770 Vocational Training places by the end of 2024. For all the autonomous communities, the Government has approved the allocation of a total of 143 million euros, intended for the creation of 76,479 Vocational Training places. Under this heading, the total number of VET places funded and created under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan amounts to 305,333, thus exceeding the commitment made to the EU. To these must be added the 95,000 bilingual places created to date, which means a total of 400,333 new places.

Since 2019, the Government’s budget for Vocational Training has increased by 865%. This has allowed, among other things, the creation of new professional qualifications and qualifications, the modernization of the system or the increase of 35% of VET students.

Last section of the program for the creation of places from 0 to 3 years

Castilla y León will receive 7,761,043 euros from the funds for the creation of 1,255 public and free places of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0 to 3 years). This is the last section of the territorial cooperation program, which distributes 142.4 million euros among all the autonomous communities; in total, 670.1 million euros have been allocated since 2021.

Thanks to this investment from the central government, the CCAA will create more than 65,000 places in this stage of education, especially 1 and 2 years, with the aim of improving the reconciliation of families, especially young women, educational equity and territorial balance.

The third agreement of the Council of Ministers in educational matters allocates 86,860 euros to Castilla y León corresponding to the School Code 4.0 Program. This investment is part of the transfer of 1.6 million euros to the CCAA, of this program to train 5.5 million students from public and concerted centers in programming, robotics and computational thinking. This item, which is in addition to the 298 million approved last May, will be used for the hiring of teaching assistants, the preparation of pedagogical resources and the acquisition of specific equipment.

Finally, the Council of Ministers has approved a new budget line to cover the costs arising from the schooling of children and young people displaced to our country by the war in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the conflict, more than 38,000 people have arrived at non-university educational centers in Spain. Castilla y León will receive 464,780 euros of the 41.9 million euros that will be distributed among the CCAA for the hiring of reinforcing teaching staff and conversation assistants, aid for transportation or the purchase of books and school supplies, among others.
