October 12, 2023.- The Government Subdelegation underlines the excellent work and dedication of the Civil Guard for the province maintain good levels of security.
The Civil Guard celebrated today the festivity of its patron, the Virgen del Pilar, with an institutional act in the Azoguejo, at the foot of the Aqueduct, on its 179 anniversary, which has been attended by an important representation of institutions and civil and military society of Segovia.
Prevention is one of the pillars of the Civil Guard’s work to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent crime. Thus, in total, the patrols of Citizen Security and the Traffic Subsector have traveled 3.7 million kilometers in the last year.
More than 21,200 people and 11,300 vehicles have also been controlled with the same objective: to prevent criminal acts and incidents.
HUMANITARIAN SERVICES AND SUPPORT
In addition, the agents have performed 839 humanitarian services and assisted 1,678 people, showing their dedication and care for citizens and help when needed.
The fight against gender violence focuses much of the effort of the Benemérita, with its Woman-Minor Team (EMUME), which also works against the exercise against minors, with highly qualified professionals and close to the victims. There are currently 202 active cases of gender-based violence in rural areas, 67 percent of the total in Segovia, of which five are rated as high-risk.
Part of the agents’ work has also focused on preventing hate crimes based on sexual orientation and resolving those crimes.
In order to respond and prevent the growing cybercrime, the Team @ was created, another example that the Civil Guard is always at the forefront, in continuous transformation and adaptation to the times to avoid new criminal acts, resolve them and identify their perpetrators.
As for the fight against drug trafficking and consumption, in the last year there have been more than 63,300 kilos of cannabis seized in the province by the Benemérita, 751 of cocaine, 145 units of ecstasy, 22 of LSD and 7 grams of speed, among others.
The Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) of Riaza carried out 25 interventions during the past year.
Within the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments, there have been 130 informative talks to the school community on various issues related mainly to internet crimes, bullying, youth gangs, gender violence…; and 22 within the Master Plan. In addition, 13 days of media exhibition have been held.
In another order of affairs, the Ministry of the Interior has undertaken works or improvements worth 258,000 euros in 16 of the 31 barracks located in the province, in its three companies of Segovia, Cuéllar and Sepúlveda.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the incorporation of women into the Civil Guard and in the province they already represent 12.15 percent of the staff. In the province, the first woman joined the Benemérita in 1989 in the position of Bernardos.
