Virginia Barcones attends in Tardelcuende an initiative that promotes the use of the train, the cinema and the knowledge of this locality among children
The Trendelcuende initiative has the collaboration of Renfe and has allowed the reservation of 130 roundtrip places between the town of Soriana and the Cañuelo station
August 27, 2023.- The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, together with the mayor of Tardelcuende, Ricardo Sillo, participated this afternoon in an activity called Trendelcuende. It is an initiative that combines the use of the train, with the viewing of films from the Soria Short Film Festival and cultural and educational activities, all aimed at children between five and ten years old. In addition, this locality of the Izana region is promoted.
La idea partió de la Asociación Cultural Gaya Nuño del municipio pizorrrero. The municipalities of Tardelcuende and Soria, the International Short Film Competition of Soria and Renfe also participate.
The activity began at 16:50 hours at the Cañuelo station and ended at the same point at 22:00 hours after the more than one hundred participants took the train back to the Sorian capital at 21:30 hours at the Tardelcuende station. Renfe had booked 130 roundtrips at a symbolic price for the children and adults accompanying them.
The activity was aimed at children between the ages of five and ten years accompanied by an adult. For many of them it was their first train trip. Virginia Barcones has shared with them some of the activities they have enjoyed and has fired them at the Tardelcuende station.
“I’m sure many people remember when they first got on a train, a boat or an airplane. Many of the boys and girls have told me about the illusion that has made them travel for the first time by train. Public means of transport are a bet for sustainability and the care of the planet,” said the delegate of the Government.
FILM PROMOTION
This activity also fulfills the objective of promoting the cinema among children. The collaboration between Tardelcuende and the Soria International Short Film Competition is not new. In 2017, the 19th edition of the festival was inaugurated in this town.
Then, the old cinema "El Pinar" opened its doors, after several decades closed, to show a fully renovated exhibition hall that hosted the screening of the film "Cinema Paradiso" in 35 mm. The room of this pizorrero municipality is a living history of the Soria cinema since inside there are elements of old rooms of the capital such as the armchairs of the Rex or the screen of the Avenida cinema. It was restored thanks to the collaboration and selfless work of the residents of Tardelcuende.
For Barcones, “cinema is culture and culture is the hallmark of a group, of a people, of a country that lives interconnected. That's why it's so important to preserve it. This initiative also allows the little ones to go to an exhibition hall, some of them also for the first time in their lives, and see animated shorts in an unknown but exciting environment for them.”
The Ministry of Culture maintains initiatives that pursue the consumption of culture such as the Young Cultural Voucher, which provides 400 euros to young people who turn 18 in 2023, and more specific ones such as the Senior Cinema program that allows people over 65 to go to the cinema for 2 euros.
TRENDELCUENDE ACTIVITIES
The children and their companions have seen children’s shorts specially selected for them by those responsible for the International Short Film Competition. Also in the cinema they have been taught the machines with which the films are projected, thus adding an educational element.
The day continued with a snack and other recreational activities that culminated in a discomobile, before the participants returned to Soria on the night train.
The mayor of the resinous town, Ricardo Sillo, has also highlighted the interest of showing “such outstanding visitors the hospitality of the neighbors of Tardelcuende and the charms that our town contains so that they ask their parents and their mothers to bring them to spend with us sometime afternoon, in the pools, in the activities we organize or in our natural places”.
SORIA-MADRID
The delegate of the Government took advantage of the visit to the station of Tardelcuende, where she said goodbye to the participants in the Trendencuelde, to remember that on June 11 Renfe recovered the railway service of the Soria-Madrid line after the commissioning of the infrastructure by ADIF after the integral renovation of the infrastructure.
The renovation works of the line cost about 80 million that have served to modernize the infrastructure, making it more comfortable and safe. These works were carried out in two phases. The first one focused on two sections. The first, of 13 kilometers, runs from the station of Torralba sense Soria. The second, of 34 kilometers, is the final stretch of the line to the Sorian capital. In addition, in the 45.5 kilometers of the intermediate route, which were previously renewed, specific improvements were made. This first phase was incompatible with rail traffic.
The second phase of the work is currently being developed. It consists mainly of the installation of new signalling systems and the railway specific digital mobile radio system (GSM-R), which ensures permanent contact between train drivers and Traffic Control Centres.
With the launch of the Soria-Madrid line last June, Renfe launched the ‘Discover Soria’ promotion, an initiative that until 15 September will allow round trips between Soria and Madrid for 15 euros. The measure also offers discounts of 59% on the price of the round trip fare on that line for travelers with origin or destination in one of the stations of the journey between Soria and Torralba.
In addition, the Government of Spain maintains the measures against the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which includes the extension of free tickets for regular travelers in the service between Soria and Madrid. This and other measures aim to alleviate the rise in inflation and protect the most vulnerable groups. The central executive aims to promote public transport and reduce the use of private vehicles, as well as contribute to reducing energy dependency and the carbon footprint. In the second quarter of 2023, around a thousand free subscriptions have been issued for recurring travelers between Soria and Madrid.
