July 25, 2023.- Expenditure on contributory pensions stands at 11.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the last 12 months, until July.
The monthly payroll of the Social Security contributory benefits in the month of July was 12,017.8 million euros.
In Castilla y León, there were 620,956 pensions paid this July (6.18% of those paid throughout the State). The average pension stands at 1192.79 euros in Castilla y León, which represents an increase of 9.836% compared to June 2022.
Distribution according to pension class
Almost three-quarters of the contributory pension payroll for July corresponds to retirement pensions, namely 72.9%, or €8.758 billion. A total of EUR 2,004.4 million has been allocated to widows' pensions, while the payroll for permanent disability benefits amounts to EUR 1,059.8 million, orphan's pension to EUR 163.7 million and family benefits to EUR 31.7 million.
Of the 10,055,940 contributory pensions paid, 6,369,023 are for retirement, 2,352,406 for widows, 947,160 for permanent disability, 342,143 for orphans and 45,208 for family members. The number of pensions is growing at a year-on-year rate of 1.1%.
For its part, the number of pensioners is 9,106,289 on July 1. Of these, 4.6 million are men and 4.5 million women. The proportion of pensions per pensioner is 1.1 benefits per person.
The pension with the most beneficiaries is that of retirement, with 6.3 million people. Of these, 60.3% are perceived by men. The widow ' s pension is received as the main benefit by 1.5 million people, 95.9 per cent of whom are women. They are followed by those with permanent disability (942,229), orphanhood (324,524) and relatives (44,549).
In Castilla y León, the distribution of pensions according to their class has been as follows:

- 401,975 retirement pensions
- 150,277 Pensions for widowhood
- 19.240 Pensions for orphanhood
- 3,897 pensions in favour of family members
Average Pension
The average pension of the system amounts to 1,195.1 euros per month. This amount includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favour of family members).
The average retirement pension of the system, for its part, is 1,375.1 euros. By system, the average retirement pension from the General System is 1,532.5 euros per month, while the lowest is registered by the Autonomous System, 915.8 euros per month. In Coal Mining, the average monthly retirement is 2,681.4 euros, and it is 1,523.9 euros in the Regime of the Sea. The average amount of new retirement increases in the system amounted in the month of June 2023 (last data) to 1,391.7 euros per month.
For its part, the average widow’s pension is 852.07 euros per month.
The average resolution time for the files in June (last data available) was 9 days in the case of the retirement pension and 13.6 days in the case of widows’ pensions. It must be taken into account that the maximum period of resolution in these procedures, according to RD 286/2003 of March 7 and RD 1192/2021, of August 3, is 90 days in both retirement and widow’s benefits.
The average pension in Castilla y León is 1,192.79 euros. By class the pensions, the averages are 1,118.21 euros for pensions for permanent disability; 1,367.87 euros for retirement; 846.16 euros for widows; 516.09 euros for orphans; and 713.83 euros for family pensions.
Gender Gap Plugins
In July, 538,856 pensions received the gender gap supplement, of which 91.2% are women (491,587). The average monthly amount of this supplement in the pension is 65.7 euros. Of the 538,856 supplementary pensions, 22.8% were pensioners with one child (122,775), who previously had no access to the maternity supplement. 47.1% of the beneficiaries have two children (253,576); 19.5% have three children (104,924), and four children have 10.7% (57,581).
The gender gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount, after the revaluation applied in 2023, of 30.40 euros per month per child, which applies from the first child, unlike the previous maternity supplement. It is requested at the same time as the pension is requested.
The pensions complemented by gender gap in Castilla y León have been 33,173, with an average monthly amount of 67 euros. A 23.27% corresponded to pensioners with one child (7,721); a 46.16% corresponded to pensioners with two children (15,315). 18.87% of the supplemented pensions were for pensioners with 3 children (6,260) and, finally, 11.68% were for pensioners with 4 children, assuming a total of 3,877 pensions.
Passive Classes
For its part, the monthly pension payroll of Passive Classes amounted to 2,921.90 million euros in the month of June, the last available figure, which includes the extra pay. This figure represents an increase of 312.7 million euros compared to the previous year, almost 12% more.
The number of pensions in force was 695,366, 12,077 more pensions than in the same month of the previous year (1.8% annual variation).
The Passive Class System of the State includes primarily military and civilian personnel of the General Administration of the State, the Administration of Justice, the General Courts and other constitutional or State bodies, as well as officials transferred to the autonomous communities.
