May 26, 2023.- This morning, in the presence of the National Police Commissioner of Soria, Francisco Moñux, the Subdelegate of the Government in Soria, Miguel Latorre, congratulated the two police officers who saved the life of an 83-year-old woman in the River Duero, near the Ecocentro.
In addition to this worthy action of both agents of the National Police, the subdelegate of the Government has thanked them for this rapid and effective intervention carried out despite the great difficulty in the rescue, not only because of the temperature of the waters but also because of the danger of the area due to its dense vegetation and large amount of mud, which seriously endangered the very life of the police officers, who had to be assisted in a health center for the wounds that occurred in the rescue.
The events took place last Wednesday. At around 8:15 p.m. a call was received at the police emergency service CIMACC 091 in which he noticed that a woman had fallen into the waters of the Douro River, at the height of the Ecocentro.
The police officers quickly arrived in the area, where they located a woman’s body floating in the waters of the river, so they proceeded to notify the health services and, in the face of the serious situation of risk to the life of that person, they threw themselves into the water to save his life.
When they reached the woman, she showed vital signs, but she presented a serious state of hypothermia, without articulating word and totally motionless. The two national police officers, with great difficulty, managed to take the woman to the shore and get her out of the river. They practiced assistive techniques and covered her with a blanket to help her recover her body temperature. When the health services arrived at the site, they took care of the victim who was transferred to a hospital, as well as the two policemen, who also presented problems of lowering body temperature.
