Burgos, April 26, 2023.- Officers of the Explosives Deactivation Team (EDEX) of the 12th Civil Guard Area based in Burgos have destroyed 4,300 grams of black dynamite, which contained the 35 cartridges of this explosive located in a house located in the Tobalina Valley.
Days ago, the Civil Guard was aware of the casual discovery of what appeared to be several cartridges of dynamite, found by the owner of a rural construction, while doing cleaning and maintenance work inside; the explosive appeared inside a sack.
The deactivators were commissioned to the site and verified the warning, verifying the presence of 35 cartridges of black dynamite of Spanish manufacture, of notable antiquity and that could date from the decade of the fifties of the last century, in an advanced state of deterioration and humidity, with a weight of 4,300 grams, which meant a significant volume of explosive.
However, before their withdrawal, they sought more information, knowing that surely their origin could be the surplus of the one acquired and used by the previous owner of the plot, for the creation of a particular well.
Being impossible to destroy it in the place, under severe security measures, it was moved to another place with the appropriate characteristics, where it was carried out successfully.
Recommendations in the event of a finding
This and other types of ammunition and/or explosive devices or materials are NOT collectible items. Trade and/or tenure is strictly prohibited.
The Civil Guard recalls that, in the face of their discovery, they must refrain from displacing, modifying or manipulating them, since these actions can seriously endanger the individual and the rest of the population due to their special characteristics, which make them already unstable.
By keeping its explosive charge active, our action must be limited to communicating its sighting and facilitating - if possible - its exact location through the geographical positioning coordinates.
The Civil Guard appreciates the collaboration of citizens and stresses the importance of reporting; to do this, it provides the telephone number 062 or, if you prefer, the Alertcops app alert service; any information you want to provide or collaboration in the field of citizen, road, heritage or environmental security is treated discreetly and anonymously.
