Valdeverdéjà (Toledo).- The subdelegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, co-chaired today, together with the mayor of Valdeverdéjà, Juan José Moreno, the Local Security Commission of the municipality, convened to analyze the situation after the latest criminal events registered and address the actions of the Civil Guard to strengthen security in the locality.
During the session, the increase in criminal activity detected since the beginning of the summer in the Oropesa Bell has been analyzed. Faced with this situation, the Civil Guard has intensified its presence and its services in the region, with special attention to Valdeverdéjà. The proceedings have resulted in the arrest of four people, one of whom was imprisoned last Friday.
Devia has conveyed a message of calm to the citizens and has valued the continued work of the Civil Guard, which has been working on the security of the area for months. The deputy delegate highlighted the dedication of its agents and the effort required for prevention and research, the results of which respond to a constant work that is not always visible to the population.
For his part, the mayor of Valdeverdéjà thanked the work of the Civil Guard and the strengthening of its presence in the municipality.
The deputy delegate has insisted that citizen collaboration is fundamental to facilitate police action. Therefore, it has encouraged neighbours to report any threat or criminal act of which they are victims or witnesses, although they may consider it of lesser importance, and to transmit to the Civil Guard any information that may contribute to its investigation.
He also recalled that police actions belong to the Security Forces and Corps and has appealed to citizens’ responsibility to avoid particular initiatives that could put people at risk or interfere in investigations. In this regard, he has stressed that the best way to collaborate is to denounce, provide information and allow agents to develop their work.
Emphasis has also been placed on the need to act prudently in the face of messages circulating through WhatsApp groups and other channels, avoiding disseminating information that may increase concern among the population.
Councillors of the City Council, the captain of the Company of the Civil Guard of Talavera de la Reina and the commander of the Post of El Puente del Arzobispo have also participated in the meeting.
