Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, has assured that Brihuega (Guadalajara) will have all the troops of State Security Forces and Bodies that are necessary to guarantee security during the lavender flowering season.

Sabrido stressed that the objective of the Local Security Commission, which he co-chaired with the mayor, Luis Manuel Viejo, is none other than “to collaborate on an issue that the city council has perfectly planned”.

In this regard, the government delegate has praised the capacity for institutional collaboration that will ensure “for people to come and enjoy”: “It will be a quiet month of July. Unforgettable dates are presented.”

Brihuega expects 150,000 visitors in five weeks

The Guadalajareña town of Brihuega is scheduled to visit more than 150,000 tourists within the five weeks that includes the last week of June and the entire month of July. This has been confirmed by the mayor, Luis Manuel Viejo, who has thanked the collaboration of the Government Delegation and the Subdelegation of Guadalajara to guarantee security.

According to the data, there are an estimated 1,000 hectares of lavender in total between Brihuega and the adjacent municipalities. A species whose flowering has been increasing during the last years the number of visitors to enjoy the violet fields.

The meeting reviewed the protocols for action and analysed special traffic devices, accesses, health care and information points, with special emphasis on the areas with the highest concentration of people.

In particular, it will be reinforced by a greater presence of Civil Guard troops and the Traffic subsector that will take care of the control of access to the locality and supervise measures to speed up the fluidity of the same including information lights for visitors on the A-2 motorway and on national roads.

The main innovations are the creation of a dissuasive car park with capacity for 3,000 vehicles, as well as a continuous system of bus shuttles from the car park to the urban center, which seeks to alleviate and promote sustainable tourism by betting on reducing mobility.

On the other hand, for the urban center there will be measures such as an access filter that favors the coexistence between visitors and neighbors by imposing a badge on the vehicles of residents, tourist accommodation or commerce.

The meeting was also attended by the Sub-delegate of the Government in the province of Guadalajara, Susana Cabellos, the provincial delegate of Fomento of the Junta of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, other leaders of the City Council, the Civil Guard, Civil Protection and the Red Cross.
