Toledo.- The Civil Guard has presented Operation Ceres 2.0, a police operation aimed at strengthening security and response capacity in different areas of the province of Toledo, especially in the region of La Sagra. The device seeks to respond to the new criminal trends detected in the region.
The presentation, held at the Civil Guard Command in Toledo, was led by the Government Delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido Fernández. The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, the Chief General of the Civil Guard in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Javier Vélez, the Mayor, and the Chief Colonel of the Toledo Command, José María Gil Cubo, have also participated.
This device, which has been in operation since the end of March, represents a significant boost to the operational resources and investigative capacity of the Civil Guard, with the aim of improving crime prevention and offering a more effective and coordinated response to the needs detected in the territory.
Operation Ceres 2.0 takes as a reference the action developed in the year 2021, updating and strengthening that model with new means and capabilities adapted to the current reality.
Strengthening the presence and operational capacity
Operation Ceres 2.0 provides for an increase in the presence of Civil Guard units in the areas of operation, through the reinforcement of personnel from other territorial units and the incorporation of specialties that provide greater operational support.
The deployment focuses mainly on the region of La Sagra (Toledo), which accounts for 37% of its demarcation in the province, and extends to strategic locations such as Ocaña and Torrijos, as well as areas bordering the Community of Madrid.
This reinforcement will make it possible to intensify the surveillance and prevention work, improve the ability to react to any incident and increase the efficiency in the development of operating devices.
A comprehensive approach
The operation adopts a comprehensive approach based on prevention, inspection, collaboration, intelligence and research. It combines the active presence of uniformed units with the impulse of the investigation, which facilitates a more complete action against the different criminal typologies, with special attention to crimes against heritage.
The administrative inspection of different sectors of interest of Citizen Security is intensified, within the scope of different specialties of the Civil Guard (SEPRONA, Prosecutor, Weapons Intervention, etc.)
In this context, collaboration with public administrations is strengthened, as well as with private entities, in this case through the Coopera Plan, promoting a coordinated and comprehensive approach to security.
In addition, the operation incorporates a strategic dimension based on the development of criminal intelligence, which will allow us to anticipate trends, guide services and plan actions in the medium and long term.
First operational results
Since its activation, Operation Ceres 2.0 has managed to significantly boost police activity with the provision of more than a hundred specific services of the different units and specialties of the Civil Guard involved, among them the Reserve and Security Group, the Traffic Group, SEPRONA, Intervention of Weapons and Explosives or the Command of the Civil Guard of Madrid.
Despite the few days of development, Operation Ceres 2.0 has already managed to obtain relevant results, having carried out more than 70 operational devices on the public highway and 20 administrative inspections in establishments relevant to citizen security, recovering many effects related to crime against heritage.
These results reflect the effectiveness of operational reinforcement and proper planning of the devices deployed within the framework of the plan.
Security, proximity and citizen confidence
Operation Ceres 2.0 aims to consolidate an environment of greater security, tranquility and confidence for citizens, reinforcing the presence of the Civil Guard and its proximity to the population in the areas of action.
Likewise, the operation includes the promotion of a communication policy that allows to transfer to the citizens the work developed by the Civil Guard, favoring transparency and knowledge of the available resources.
