Sabrido highlights the good functioning of the emergency services in this country and calls for prudence to the citizens
Illescas (Toledo).- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, has once again demonstrated the good functioning of the emergency system in our country, based on constant preparation, interinstitutional collaboration and the capacity to respond to critical situations such as the floods that cross some areas of the region.
In statements to the press during the visit with the Minister of Education, Milagros Tolón to Illescas (Toledo), his successor in office has reported that after the meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) this morning the device has been strengthened in Ciudad Real with the collaboration of the Government of Spain with the Board. A follow-up meeting focused on the landslides that are taking place in the region.
In the case of the Gasset Reservoir, he explained that the unreservoirs are especially affecting the municipalities of Malagón and Fernán Caballero. Likewise, the unpacking of the Tower of Abraham Reservoir is having an impact on the Bullaque River and its surroundings.
At the moment, Sabrido has pointed out that the Military Emergency Unit (UME) keeps 64 troops deployed on the ground. During the morning, the Command Post currently located between Alcoba de los Montes and Porzuna will be moved, “with the aim of bringing it closer to Malagón and Fernán Caballero”, where the emergency and the main preventive and follow-up actions are currently concentrated.
On the other hand, the government delegate mentioned that a thorough monitoring is being carried out of the consequences of the necessary landslides from the Fuensanta Dam, in the Albacete mountain range, and of their possible affection to the municipalities of the area. The competent authorities maintain permanent coordination in order to anticipate any incidents and adopt, where appropriate, the necessary additional measures.
In any case, Sabrido has sent a message of caution to the citizens. All emergency devices are activated, working in a coordinated and permanent way to ensure people’s safety and minimize any impact. At the same time, it has called for prudence and responsibility: it is recommended to avoid unnecessary displacement in the affected areas, not to approach waterways and flood areas, and to follow the indications of the emergency services and local authorities and FCSE at all times.
Accident step to level in Talavera
In response to the media about the tragic event that occurred at a level crossing, José Pablo Sabrido has deeply regretted the death of a 50-year-old neighbor at a level crossing without barriers to access to agricultural estates in Talavera de la Reina and has sent condolences to the family.
The government delegate has confirmed that the Civil Guard investigates the causes of the impact of his vehicle with an Alvia train in Talavera. And he pointed out that from the first moment that the warning was received, the various emergency services acted with the utmost diligence, coordination and professionalism. The rapid intervention of the health teams, security forces and bodies and civil protection personnel allowed the situation to be addressed effectively and the area to be secured in order to avoid additional risks.
Sabrido has pointed out that RENFE made available to passengers who turned out to be unscathed “four buses to guarantee transport from Oropesa to Badajoz”. The government delegate has reiterated that the coordination between the different bodies involved was exemplary, activating the established protocols and mobilizing the necessary resources in the shortest possible time.
The competent authorities have opened the corresponding procedures to clarify the circumstances of the accident and determine its causes. The Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Toledo investigates the causes of the fatal accident in a step at the railway level and the National Police also collaborates in gathering all possible information.
