Toledo.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, has conveyed a message of prudence and precaution on the occasion of the heat wave suffered by our country these days and also Castilla-La Mancha, with yellow warnings throughout the region and orange level in Toledo and Ciudad Real due to the high temperatures.
After the minute of silence for the last victim of gender violence in Spain, the delegate told the media that this second heat wave is at least going to last until Tuesday of next week, so she has asked “to take precautions especially in the hours of maximum heat because the heat kills”.
Milagros Tolón has asked citizens to protect themselves from the sun and the consequences of extreme temperatures, paying special attention to the most vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, people with respiratory ailments etc.
He has also made an appeal to avoid activities that could generate fires that in these days are aggravated by high temperatures. “Every precaution is little to prevent the fires that are affecting not only Spain, but also Europe as we are seeing in France,” said the delegate, who highlighted the work carried out by the State Meteorological Agency, offering information about the weather in its broadcast channels.
Directorate General of Civil Protection
In this context, the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of the Interior, according to the predictions of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), has warned of high temperatures in almost the entire peninsula until, at least, next Tuesday.
These expected high temperatures lead to a significant increase in the risk of forest fires, so it is necessary to take extreme precautions. According to AEMET, this week the thermal rise continues, favoring the persistence of a mass of warm and dry air of African origin over much of the peninsula.
