Toledo.- The Unit against Violence against Women of the Subdelegation of the Government of Spain in the province of Toledo has scheduled, for Tuesday, May 21 and from 5.30 pm, the representation of the work "Not only do beatings hurt", by Pamela Palenciano, in the Ocaña II penitentiary center. Seven days later, on Tuesday 28, also at 5.30 p.m., you will be able to see it in the Ocaña I penitentiary center.
A new version directed by Darío Valtancoli that narrates the personal experience of the actress, communicator and female activist Pamela Palenciano in her first dating relationship, which became violent over the years. A work that is not without touches of humor and interpellations aimed at the public and in which the universal history of male violence is addressed, as well as the construction of stereotypes that generate the inequality that allows violence to be exercised, at all levels, on another person.
The representation is part of the programme of training and awareness-raising activities that, from the Unit against Violence against Women, the Subdelegation of the Government of Spain in the province of Toledo directs various social, educational and professional groups in the province of Toledo thanks to the funds of the State Pact. And in the cases of the prisons of Ocaña I and Ocaña II, various initiatives aimed at the prison population against gender violence have already materialized.
Regarding the author, Pamela Palenciano, has traveled with her work almost all of Spain, as well as other countries. She has received several awards and recognitions for her fight for women’s rights.
“Not only do beatings hurt” will be represented in the six penitentiary centers of Castilla-La Mancha during 2024 through the Subdelegations of the Government of Spain.
