Toledo. In the framework of the Book Day that is commemorated on April 23, the delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited the occupational center "Virgen del Sagrario" of the Association of Families of People with Intellectual Disability and Development (APANAS) of the regional capital, where binding work is carried out, among other activities.
Accompanied by the president of APANAS, María del Mar Azaña, and the manager, Sagrario Balmaseda, Milagros Tolón wanted, with this visit, to give visibility to the work carried out by this entity for the inclusion of people with disabilities, an activity that is essential for an idea to become the physical reality of a book through the process of printing and binding.
The delegate greeted the members who are part of the binding workshop, congratulated them on their work and gave them a copy of “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
“It is a privilege for Castilla-La Mancha to have entities such as APANAS to combat discrimination and offer equal opportunities to all people, regardless of their physical or intellectual capacities,” said the delegate, who stressed that the region “has an associative and human fabric of which we are proud and where APANAS is a benchmark with a trajectory of 59 years.”
Milagros Tolón has pointed out that the work of organizations, institutions and associations of the social sector allows to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable groups “and that they can develop their capacities favoring their inclusion in our society”, apart from contributing to the guidance and advice of families.
In this sense, it has made available to the association all the resources of the General Administration of the State and the Government of Spain to continue betting on the Social Economy as a model of inclusive growth, integrating all capacities and taking advantage of the talent of all people without leaving anyone behind.
For her part, María del Mar Azaña has expressed her gratitude to the Government delegate for giving visibility to the occupational workshop “Virgen del Sagrario” of APANAS, located in the Toledo street of San Pedro el Verde, the first that launched the association, which has almost 60 years of experience.
