Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, has highlighted the effort made by the State for the maintenance, conservation and improvement of the A-42 motorway in the province of Toledo, as a strategic connection axis for the development of the municipalities of La Sagra and the region as a whole, an effort that translates into a current investment that is around 15 million euros.
He pointed this out during the visit he made with mayors of the area to the works currently being carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and which include, as explained by the delegate of the Government, two interventions.
On the one hand, a project of cleaning, improvement of slopes, pipelines, repair of signs and mediums, management of arches, cleaning of drainage pipes and other arrangements is being carried out. This is an emergency action approved by the Government of Spain to alleviate the damage caused by the DANA last September. These works are expected to be completed in the month of August.
On the other hand, the asphalt work of the motorway has already begun from kilometer 45 (YunfyC) to kilometer 60 (Olías del Rey), a total of 15 kilometers with a budget greater than 11 million euros.
Institutional coordination
“Coordination between administrations is something fundamental and that is why the Government of Spain is investing a total of 15 million euros in this area,” said the delegate, who has thanked the willingness and collaboration of the mayors of La Sagra for the realization of these works.
Milagros Tolón has highlighted that the A-42 “is one of the main roads of Castilla-La Mancha, a very important area for the municipalities that are in continuous development” and has recognized the work that the mayors of La Sagra have done to demand the Government of Spain to improve the infrastructure and that the region remains attractive for business and industrial development.
Needs of municipalities
For her part, the mayor of Olías del Rey, Charo Navas, thanked the interest of Milagros Tolón and the Government of Spain in addressing “the needs of our municipalities, helping our neighbors and neighbors” and stressed that solving their needs, “involves the fundamental collaboration between administrations and this is what is demonstrated today.”
Navas pointed out that the A-42 “is the accumulating axis of our municipalities in which the vast majority of our economy and our industry develop, and that is why these works are so important that the Ministry is carrying out at this time of both refurbishment of asphalt, improvements in the service roads, and, above all, also the drainage areas that it is carrying out so that what happened with the DANA last September does not happen”.
Also present at the visit were the mayors of Yunsouls, Luis Miguel Martín; Cabañas de la Sagra, Tomás Díaz Yuste; and Villaluenga, Carlos Casarrubios, as well as the government’s deputy delegate in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia.
