Ciudad Real.- The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), has initiated the first phase of the "2023 Food Aid Program for the most disadvantaged people", in which the distribution of 142,904.40 kilos of food is foreseen for a value of 236,360.86 euros. This amount in the province will be distributed in the first phase for a total of 11,234 beneficiaries, with the second phase scheduled for next September.
The food purchased is basic, varied, nutritious, unperishable, easy to transport and storage. In this way, the basket includes foods such as rice, cooked chickpeas, canned tuna, alimentary paste (spaghetti and noodles), fried tomato, biscuits, vegetable macedonia, soluble cocoa or childish fruit and chicken tarritos. These products will be delivered to all Spanish provinces and will be distributed through the food banks and provincial centers of the Spanish Red Cross.
In the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, 684,375.28 kg of food valued at 1,135,804.62 euros will be distributed free of charge in the first phase. For this territorial distribution of food, the EAGGF has taken into account a series of objective indicators of the socio-economic situation of each province.
The designated OADs (Spanish Federation of Food Banks and Spanish Red Cross), through their 10 storage and distribution centres (CADs), will distribute the food they receive from the EAGGF to 404 partner distribution organisations (OARs) throughout the region.
In the province of Ciudad Real, the most disadvantaged people who want to receive food as beneficiaries of the program, can go to any of the following 78 authorized OARs.
