Toledo.- The subdelegate of the Government in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, has reported in a meeting held in the town of Olías del Rey on the upcoming award of the works contract on the A-42, in the stretch between the municipalities of Yunsouls and Olías del Rey, budgeted at 11.4 million euros by the Mitma (Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda).
The meeting was attended by the mayor of Olías del Rey, Charo Navas, and the mayors of Yunsouls, Luis Miguel Martín, and Cabañas de la Sagra, Tomás Díaz.
The subdelegate of the Government explained that the opening of the various economic and technical offers took place last February, so it is expected that the award of the works will be imminent.
The project, he added, consists of the structural rehabilitation of the firm on the A-42 Motorway, in a stretch of 15 kilometers between kilometer points 45 and 60, concentrated in the sections of the trunk with a worse structural state on both roads and also contemplates the complete surface rehabilitation.
Carlos Ángel Devia recalled that this action is included within the Conservation and Maintenance Program of the State Road Network, in which Mitma has invested more than 100 million euros since June 2018 in Toledo, which has meant a great improvement in the quality of service of the state road infrastructure in the province and greater road safety.
In this way, he recalled among the actions undertaken by the Ministry in the province of Toledo, the superficial rehabilitation of the road N-401 between Burguillos de Toledo and Orgaz for an amount of 6.3 million, the works of improvement of the drainage between the PP.KK. 0+500 and 2+080 of the road TO-23, the surface rehabilitation of the firm of the national road N-502 or the future works for the execution of the conditioning of the intersections of the road N-502 to connect the towns of Velada and Gamonal.
Regarding the action on the A-42, he stressed that, given the influx of traffic on this road and that there is no wish to cut off the circulation for the realization of the project, the works will have a longer execution time than normal and that, “although it is only 15 km, it is a very important work, whose budget confirms it”.
“Mayors and mayors,” she said, “to conclude thank you for your insistence, for transferring to us what your neighbors transfer to you and that you know that the Government of Spain complies when it comes to solving the problems of the citizens, some before and others after, but here we are.”
For her part, the mayor of Olías del Rey, Charo Navas, has indicated her satisfaction with this announcement, since it is an infrastructure that in some sections, had been without maintenance for 20 years, and is a fundamental way for the region, since its entire industry is dumped through the A-42.
