Toledo.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, presided this morning, together with the mayor of Alcaudete de la Jara, Cristina Cebas, the Local Security Commission of the municipality, in which the members of the Municipal Corporation and Civil Guard have also participated.
Carlos Ángel Devia has highlighted the usefulness of this coordinating body between the different administrations to share and coordinate the necessary measures to guarantee citizen security.
In this regard, he reported during the session on the main security indicators in the municipality that, the province of Toledo remains 6 points below the national average in the crime rate and that, in the case of Alcaudete, no significant crime figures are recorded, both in the municipality and in the region of La Jara.
“The situation in the municipality is manifestly better than the one recorded in 2018 – he said – and this is reflected in the decrease in complaints of 30% in the last year”.
On the other hand, the subdelegate of the Government has publicly expressed his gratitude to the Civil Guard of the Company of Talavera, for the tasks of prevention and surveillance to guarantee the coexistence and safety of citizens in the municipality, as well as the support in these tasks to its City Council.
The deputy delegate also congratulated the Consistory for its efforts in the area of citizen security, in which it invested more than 50,000 euros in video surveillance cameras and security measures in municipal offices.
In the same way, he has highlighted the courage and initiative of the city council to address the issue of the illegal occupation of homes, after deciding to open constant channels of communication with financial entities, owners of empty homes, as well as with electricity and water supply companies. “In fact,” he added, “I always give as an example Alcaudete de la Jara and its city council as a model when dealing with occupation issues.”
"Citizen security is a commitment of all," he added, "and for this reason I congratulate the mayor for having wanted to involve the entire municipal corporation of this Local Security Commission, since I am convinced that security issues should not be the subject of political debate."
For her part, the mayor of Alcaudete, Cristina Cebas, thanked the Government’s deputy delegate for her immediate response to the Local Security Commission and highlighted the service provided by the Civil Guard to the municipality.
Cebas has assured that, despite some isolated events produced in recent months in the town, citizen security in Alcaudete is manifestly better than the one recorded in 2018.
