Guadalajara.- The deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Guadalajara, Mercedes Gómez, and the mayors of Guadalajara and Azuqueca de Henares, Alberto Rojo and José Luis Blanco, respectively, have met today with the director of Neighbourhoods of Madrid, Ricard Ribé, and the manager of Area of Institutional Relations, Sergio Bueno, to be interested in the projects that Renfe has in progress to improve the infrastructures and service of the C-2 line and to deal with incidents in the circulation.
Mayors have called for an effort to minimize the negative consequences caused by incidents to users who travel daily by rail for work or study purposes, despite the fact that the line generally maintains a punctuality of 96%, as explained by the head of Renfe. In order to facilitate communication with passengers, Renfe has the Twitter account Adverts Cerca Madrid (@Cerca Madrid), to which passengers on the C-2 line can subscribe to automatically receive service information on the circulation of trains on the line they normally use.
Some of the improvements announced have already been made effective, such as the expansion since last September of the Civis semi-direct train circulations, whose number has multiplied in recent years to reach the current 39 (20 going and 19 back). Likewise, the free subscriptions for regular travelers have been very favourably received. In fact, from January 1 to February 28, 18,240 free subscriptions have been purchased by people from the province of Guadalajara.
On the other hand, Renfe is making an important investment effort to acquire more than 200 new trains, many of which will be destined to renew the fleet of Cerca de Madrid, with the aim of modernizing the fleet and reducing the average age of the railway park, improving reliability and, therefore, also punctuality.
For their part, the mayors have urged the leaders of Renfe to hold a new meeting to analyze in the field in the stations of both localities the necessary actions to improve the management of traffic and the circulation of vehicles in the environment.
