Guadalajara.- The Government of Spain is going to contribute 7.8 million euros to promote the five tourism sustainability plans that will be developed in different municipalities of Guadalajara and will mobilize together more than 10.5 million euros, adding the contributions of municipalities, Diputación and Government of Castilla-La Mancha. This was highlighted this morning by the deputy delegate of the Government, Mercedes Gómez, during her visit to the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) on the day dedicated to Guadalajara at the stand of Castilla-La Mancha.
Gómez recalled that last June the tourism sustainability plan ‘El país de la plata’, located in Hiendelaencina, was approved and only a few months ago the one that will be developed in the capital came out. Both are in addition to those previously approved for Sigüenza, Molina de Aragón and the towns of Brihuega, Cifuentes and Torija, grouped in the project ‘La Alcarria Literaria’. “All of them will serve to improve tourism infrastructures and strengthen our province as a preferred destination for inland tourism,” he said.
With her presence in Fitur, the subdelegate wanted to show her support for the tourism sector in Guadalajara, “an activity that we must bet on because it is sustainable and not relocatable, and can contribute decisively to creating employment and wealth in rural areas, putting a stop to depopulation”.
He also referred to Molina de Aragón’s stop to ensure that the works are close to completion, “and they will not stop until it is completely finished.” In fact, this year’s General State Budgets include a one-million-euro item for equipment. The deputy delegate explained that “it will be the 98th stop of the national network, although it was expected to be the 100th, but the progress of the work has allowed two posts in the list to be advanced”.
In his speech, he insisted that Guadalajara has an excellent tourist raw material, both in nature tourism and in historical-artistic heritage. “Therefore, it is important to be in Fitur, which is the first world fair in the sector, and an extraordinary showcase for the immense market that we have next door, in the neighboring Community of Madrid, where more than six million people live that is on our doors,” he said.
