Toledo.- The deputy delegate of the Government of Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, has presided, together with the mayor of Barcience, Víctor López Maquedano, the Local Security Board of the municipality, convened on the occasion of the next celebration of the LXXXV Spanish Greyhound Championship.
The sporting event, which will be officially presented next Friday in the Municipal Pavilion of the town of Torrijos, will take place in the ‘La Piedad’ estate of Barcience, starting on January 14 and 15 with the round of 16; on 21 with the quarterfinals, on 25 with the semifinals and on Saturday 28 will be the final of the championship.
In addition to the deputy delegate of the Government, the mayor and councillors of the municipal team, the Civil Guard, Civil Protection and Citizen Security and the Red Cross, attended the Local Security Board, and representatives of the organization of the Championship and the Spanish Federation of Greyhounds, who informed the attendees about the development of the same.
Carlos Ángel Devia has expressed his collaboration to the City of Barcience before the prospects of a large influx of public. In this regard, he has specified that the municipality will have, during the days of celebration of the championship, different specialized units of the Civil Guard, such as Cavalry, Seprona, and USECIC patrols, to guarantee security during the sporting event of participants and public.
The town of Barcience has already hosted the LXXIII edition of the Spanish Championship of Greyhounds in Campo, Copa Su Majestad el Rey, in 2011, and previously held this competition, the most important of this sport in Spain, in 1992 and 1994.
