- The government delegate in Cantabria has attended the UC Technical College of Nautics where public employees bring the AGE to students
The Government Delegation in Cantabria is strengthening its proximity to the citizens with the program ‘La Administración Cerca de Ti’, launched by the Government of Spain in 2022, and from January to November this year has issued almost 3,000 electronic signatures to Cantabrians and Cantabrians who have attended the sessions developed in municipalities, associations or the university.
On Monday, the Delegation’s public employees went to the University of Cantabria (UC) Technical College of Nautics to bring the General State Administration (AGE) closer to the students.
The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has visited the university center on the occasion of this session of ‘The Administration Near You’ and has valued this program and the work of public employees.
“We want the citizens to lose that fear of approaching the administration and, therefore, we come to where the citizens are, today at the University of Cantabria,” said Casares.
In addition, it has detailed that, throughout 2025, until the end of November, the program has made 91 visits, 48 of them to municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants, and the rest to associations and different groups, as is the case of university students.
He explained that, in these visits, public employees explain to citizens the importance of the AGE and all the procedures they can carry out with the digital certificate or Key, such as downloading certificates or registration, carrying out procedures with the Social Security or the General Traffic Directorate (DGT), as well as consult the status of any procedure.
It has also advanced that, until December 22, ‘La Administración Cerca de Ti’ will emphasize in Arnuero, Puente San Miguel, Laredo, and Torrelavega and will be close to groups such as the Red Cross. And already, for next year, he has advanced that he will return to UC, again to the Nautical School, for a session with the students of the Senior Program on January 23.
Casares highlighted that “Cantabria is one of the most advanced provinces in all of Spain” in the program of ‘La Administración Cerca de Ti’ because “it has been the community that has made the most electronic certificates in a single month” through the visits of public employees of the Government Delegation.
“The objective is clear: to bring the administration closer to the territory, especially to rural Cantabria, and to reduce the digital divide”, said the State representative in the community and stressed that it is being fulfilled: “From January to November, 91 views, 3,100 citizens attended and 2,728 digital signatures issued.”
